October 2016 cards

Hi everyone hope you are all keeping well & for those of you that attended the Thetford show last month, I look forward to hearing all about it.

I have certainly been busy since our last meeting. My new deputy sister's  job is keeping me really busy  and on my days off I have become an "archery widow" as I seem to spend my whole time being a taxi service, either taking them to archery practice or to a competition. But all that hard work has paid off as they both struck gold at their first ever competition & here are my 2 toxophilites (posh word for archery geeks)

Right now down to the real reason your reading this blog....

So this month fingers crossed we will endeavour to make 6 cards but hopefully you won't find it too hard going.

 So here goes with this month's offerings ;

Card 1- Easy Chrimbo card take 1

This is the card I made at last class whilst you were all hard at work and I decided to have a "play" with the stuff in my box

Any Christmas die or punch should work so feel free to bring along what you have in your stash.

Card 1b - Easy Chrimbo card take 2

This card uses the punched out left over from the first card  but as I thought it was a bit boring plain white I coloured it up & added some sparkle.

Card  2 a - false batik

This is my current favourite technique, I have found it soooo addictive. It's so easy to do and I have found different cardstock gives different results so if you have different brands of white card stock bring them along and see what happens.

You do need distress inks for this technique no other ink will do & the dark colours work best. You also need open design stamps so the following stamps will NOT work

Remember If you can colour the stamp image in it should work

So here is my sample

Card 2b - Christmas batik

Same technique this time made into a Christmas card. Slight confession I forgot to stamp a small sentiment before adding my focal image & now I don't want to risk ruining it, so if you want a greeting bring it along with you.

Card  3 - A glimpse of Christmas

Here is an unusual way to use your scraps of patterned papers

Card 4 - Christmas Joy

This is a simple but effective Christmas design

Hope you like this month's card & hope you can all make it this weekend x

August 2016 cards

Hi everyone I do hope you are enjoying all this lovely weather we have been having. I bet if you are anything like me you end up dragging all your crafting kit outside,  as it's too nice to stay indoors but it's a shame not to be doing something whilst enjoying the sunshine.

Well here goes with this month's selection. Don't forget it's Hethersett class this Sunday & Aylsham Saturday class is a week later.

Card 1 - Summer Flowers

Card 2 - all of flutter

If we manage to get another card sorted I will add it on here. Hope to see you all at the weekend.

Friday 1 July 2016

July 2016 cards

Well Happy Christmas to you all.

This can only mean one thing it's Christmas in July time so all our cards this month will be of the festive kind. So get your tinsel and baubles dusted off and let the festivities begin......

Card 1 - Vellum Poinsettia

This one uses the "Sylvia" landscape card fold

Version 2
Shows you don't have to use traditional colours

Card 2 - Elegant Baubles

This I admit to copying from a magazine

Card 3 - Faux Baubles

Another card I found in a magazine

Hope you like the cards and hope to see lots of you this weekend x

June 2016 Cards

Hi everyone firstly can I say a big thank you to all the best wishes I received whilst my husband was really poorly, you will be glad to hear he is slowly on the mend again and hopefully will be getting the all clear from his cancer very soon.

I also had some great news in the form of promotion at work, I am now deputy sister of my unit, which will be challenging given our unit is being extended next month and we are relocating to a temporary location but I'm looking forward to meeting these challenges head on.

So now to the important stuff this month's cards......

Card 1 - now that's a surprise

This is one we didn't get done a couple of months ago

Card 2- all about the zen

At the begin of the year I asked everyone for suggestions to what techniques they would like covering and Jeanette at Hethersett suggested Zentangling. Well it's taken me this long to get up the nerve to give it a go and now I cannot stop. I'm not brave enough to draw my own outlines so I've used stamps & stencils instead. The stamps do need to be outline only, which it would appear I have very few of, so I improvised and used the negatives of punches to give the outline I needed and this is what I came up with.
Here are some I've yet to mount on cards.

I forgot to add a light grey marker pen to the list, I actually used SUs smokey slate.

The other cards are in Sylvia's email from last month but I cannot get them on here as they are a word attachment.

Looking forward to seeing you all at the weekend.

Saturday 9 April 2016

Hi ladies, just to let you all know I will be bringing a small selection of Lisa's goodies to sell on Saturday & Sunday so if you want to grab a bargain please bring your pennies with you x

April 2016 cards

Well here we are again. Hope you all had a lovely Easter & that you didn't eat too many Easter eggs 😊.

This month's card all have an acetate theme to them so I hope you like them & that they involve techniques we have not covered before.

Card 1 - now that's a surprise

I know that is a cryptic title but when you see the card initially it looks pretty boring until you pull the ribbon & then the surprise is revelled.

The boring view

The surprise

Card 2 - Smacking Acetate

This card does use acetate but you won't find it on the card exactly.

Extra supplies needed
Corner punch

Card 3 - Smacking Acetate take 2

This is a variation of the above technique - I was really pleased how this card turned out & I have to say it's my favourite.

Extra March cards

I thought it might be nice to see the cards & boxes we made today.

Here is what I made whilst the ladies were hard at work

Apologies for the awful stamping on this box, I did it too quickly & forgot to clean the edges of my stamps

And here is what everyone else did

Thanks again for everyone who attended & I hope you liked what you made.

March 2016 cards

Welcome back everyone. As you can see hopefully normal service has resumed albeit very late.

Before I get onto the cards please can I take this time to thank each & every one of you for your support during which has been a awful time for me & my family. I cannot put into words how grateful I am especially those in the group who agreed to teach whilst I was unavailable.

The biggest thank you must go to Sylvia who had to  step into my shoes & without her I think I would have had to fold the club up.  I am so so lucky to know such a great group of ladies xxx

Right that's enough of the soppy stuff now to get to get onto the serious stuff. Here are the samples I came up with plus you get to see what Heather did today as she changed things slightly.
